Getting the most from your Candle

It's a very exciting time. Your new Candle has arrived, it's now time to relax and get the candle lit! Here, we look through some tips to get the most from your new candle.

Candle Care Wick Trimmer

When burning your candle for the first time we recommend that you burn the candle for at least 3 hours. This will allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the jar (also known as the melt pool) and will help avoid tunneling. Tunneling is where only part of the wax melts and creates a tunnel effect through the centre of the candle. Tunneling creates a shorter burn life.

It is essential that you trim the wick to 5mm (1/4 inch) before every burn. You can do this with a wick trimmer or even your fingers, just make sure the wick has cooled. Trimming the wick will ensure you get the best results from your candle, stop the flame from becoming too large and emitting unsavoury black smoke.

When lighting the candle, ensure it is free from any dissuaded wick or debris. Burn the candle on a level heat resistant surface and away from flammable objects. Be careful when extinguishing the candle as the container will be hot.

We don’t recommend burning the candle for longer than 4 hours at a time. If you experience a high flame, repeated smoking or flickering, extinguish the flame and allow to cool. Once cool, trim the wick as advised above and re-light.

Drafts and candles don’t work well together, make sure you don’t burn your candle anywhere there is likely to be a draft.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Please burn candles out of reach of children and pets.

Most importantly, we hope you enjoy your candle as much as we did making it for you.
